Two of our year 11 students, Aylssa and Chloe were lucky enough to be accepted on to the Fashion & Business Saturday Club this year. Only 24 students, aged 13-15, from schools across Greater Manchester were given this amazing opportunity. Based at the Manchester Metropitan University, The Manchester Fashion Institute and in conjunction with the British fashion Council, the National Fashion and Business Saturday club course started in November 2016 for 20 weeks.
The students attended weekly interactive seasons run by academic and industry experts to build their creative and entrepreneurial skills, all the while enabling them to discover potential career and study opportunities within the fashion Industry. Not only do the students have access to expert advice and guidance but they also get to access the University facilities and Fashion studios.
At the end of the 20 weeks the work produced by the students was displayed at a high profile industry event at Somerset House, London with both Ayssa and Chloe in attendance. Both the girls really enjoyed the experience and would highly recommend the course to others. One of the girls’ tutors commented- ” it was a delight to have Alyssa and Chloe attend the club. They were both great students who fully involved themselves in the work.”
Praise indeed – Well done girls!
