Safeguarding - Introduction

What is safeguarding?

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is defined as: protecting children from maltreatment; preventing impairment of children’s mental health or development; ensuring that children grow up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care; and acting to enable all children to have the best outcomes.

Within the Laurus Trust, safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is everyone’s responsibility. Our approach is child-centred and we consider, at all times, what is in the best interest of the child.

The Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) at Cheadle Hulme High School is Miss A Ballard, Deputy Head of School. Our Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL) is Mrs E Geddis, Trust Senior Head of Year.

If you have a concern regarding the welfare of a child who attends Cheadle Hulme High School, please ask to speak to a member of the safeguarding team on 0161 425 7201.

Further advice and guidance can also be sought from the Multi Agency Safeguarding and Support Hub (MASSH) on 0161 474 4734
