Cheadle Hulme Sixth Form’s (CHSF) football team has reached new heights by advancing to the semi-finals of the English Schools’ Football Association U18’s National Schools’ Cup, for the first time in the school’s history.

Previously, the team’s best performance was reaching the last 32. This incredible milestone highlights the team’s dedication and exceptional performance throughout the season.

The journey to the semi-finals has seen the team triumph over seven rounds, facing tough competitors such as Knutsford Academy, Tytherington, St Bedes, Manchester Grammar School, Lady Manners School, Clitheroe Royal Grammar School, and King Edward VI School in the quarter-finals. The quarter-final match was particularly memorable, as King Edward VI had previously defeated last year’s champions with a dominant 6-0 scoreline, only to be beaten by CHSF 4-3.

Throughout their seven games, the team has netted an impressive 33 goals and secured three clean sheets in the Nationals, maintaining an unbeaten record in all competitions this season. Additionally, the team is competing in the semi-final of the Greater Manchester County Cup and has won all their matches in the North West league, so far.

Mr Lawton, PE Teacher at Cheadle Hulme High School expressed immense pride in the team’s accomplishments, stating:

“I am immensely proud of what this team have achieved in the season so far. To be in the last four of the country for football is a brilliant achievement for the group, of which I would attribute this to their hard work, team spirit, and perseverance in tough moments. I know that each and every student on this team will give it their absolute all to ensure they book a slot in the final.”

As the team prepares for the semi-final, the entire school community is rallying behind them and wishes them well, hopeful for a place in the final.

Good luck Cheadle Hulme Sixth Form, we’re all behind you!
